WORD UP 2025: PART 2
Welcome back to school for the second half of Word Up. Thanks for all the bottle art that was made over the half term break - being creative helps our well-being and reusing and recycling plastic helps our environment. See some of the really imaginative creations here. For the next two weeks we will be learning about the wonderment and woes in the entertainment zone of a city and all the words connected with that zone. WORDS WORDS WORDS!
Word Up 2025: Week 4
We've been thinking a lot about healthy habits and loving words this week. We've learned about a new artist called Chris Uphues who does beautiful pieces of arts with lots of hearts and bright colours. We've loved creating our own. Word Up is full of LOVE!
Word Up 2025: Week 3
This week we are in a new zone of the city - the Well-Being and Active Zone. It is also Children's Mental Health Week and we will have soon time everyday taking care of our minds and the way that we think. There are well-being zones around the school for children to use. We came to school on Word Up Friday in our active wear today. It made us feel good and comfortable and ready to be active!
WORD UP 2025: Week 2
I-Shine Uni is back this week with of course a Word Up Theme. School feels so positive and exciting...not like everywhere else in January...we are learning words all connected with transport, there are words everywhere! PC Lee, our school's policeman has visited all the classes in our school this week to make sure that we know how to stay safe in a city. The Super Juice story - The Colour of Love is on every Wednesday!
WORD UP 2025: Week 1
The children are Tiny Art crazy! Y1 and Y2 have taken part in word workshops. We are learning about transport and words connected with transport...there are so many! I-Shine Cinema is back for families to enjoy a movie together. Parents are helping with a Do More Task this weekend...find out about New York City. The Do-It-Dude is still missing!! Word Up Word Up!
January 2025: Countdown to Word Up
It's a new year and we are counting down to our annual Word Up festival. A highlight of our school calendar. It's the time of year when we focus intensively on acquiring new vocabulary, developing our speaking and listening skills, rocking on with reading and being wonderful writers. Word Up is for every child in the school from 2-11 and the children truly love it. Parents can really support their child's learning by watching the Super Juice films at home together and talking about the story. Word Up is for EVERYONE!
Children’s "Make Life Lighter Boxes"
Our students recently created "Make Life Lighter Boxes," decorated in ways that bring joy, positivity, and help reduce stress in their lives.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who helped make this project a success. Your support and encouragement truly made a difference in the children's experience.

MEET TO REMEMBER
Our traditional 2 minute silence to reflect and remember took place today. Our kindness kids stand together to hope for a peaceful future.
GOLDSTAR FIREWORKS
Our biggest display ever. 1500 people from our school community came to enjoy our annual display. As always our families showed patience, lovely manners and respect and appreciation. We are proud to be Goldbeaters and Orion.
AUTUMN 2: GOOD MOVE MOVEMBER
November can sometimes be a hard month - the winter is coming. If we focus on some simple Good Moves and turn November into Movember we can make life feel so much better! Good moves can include smiling, encouraging each other, being thankful, dancing. Our VITAL VITAMIN this week is Vitamin C - have a look at us having a vitamin C boost!
YEAR 4 TRIP TO THE ZOO
The Year 4 trip to the zoo was a huge success! The students had a fantastic time exploring the animal exhibits and learning about wildlife. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to apply what they’ve been learning in science and enjoy the outdoors. Thank you for your support and for helping make this trip such a memorable experience for the children.
BLACK HISTORY MONTH: ROCKTOBER 2024
We have celebrated black history this year through the medium of film. Film can give much knowledge and inspire much thoughtfulness. Children completed a Feel Good Task at home of making a Caribbean Fruit Kabob to bring into school and enjoy. Magnificent engagement and effort. See the photos to feel good too and THANK YOU!
Jacksonville Jaguars Community Event 2024
Our students recently had the exciting opportunity to visit the Grove Hotel for the Jacksonville Jaguars Community Event 2024. It was an inspiring day filled with activities, learning experiences and moments that created lasting memories and excitement.
We’re grateful for this wonderful opportunity and look forward to future community events that help bring our students closer to the world around them!
FAMILY BINGO
Our school hosted a fantastic Family Bingo Night! The hall was buzzing with excitement as students, parents, and teachers gathered for an evening of fun. The event was a great way to bring the school community together outside of the classroom.
It was a fun, energetic evening, and we’re all looking forward to the next one!
APPLE CRAZY: ROCKTOBER 2024
It's Apple Harvest Time. Children at the Orion will taste and learn the names of 6 British grown apples and understand how apples and other crops are harvested in the Autumn. Apples have huge health benefits and symbolise good health, happiness and sweetness in many cultures.
WORLD SMILE DAY 2024
An annual tradition for a Feel Good Friday. Staff and children greet each other at the gate with smiles. Nearly every child completed the smiley task at home...thank you parents! Children learnt about Takashi Murakami - a contemporary Japanese artist - known for incorporating a smiley flower in his artwork.
Move for Peace: 20.09.24
This week we have been getting fitter, stronger and cleverer. The Feel Good Fruit Shop has been open every morning for children to buy a banana snack and children have been building up fit bricks by jogging at school and at home. On Feel Good Friday all the children earned more fit bricks by getting together on The Orion Field and moving for Peace. It is a tradition in our schools to celebrate the International Day of Peace - it is always special, always happy and always important to us.

Let’s be fitter, stronger and cleverer! It’s good to feel good! Parents and children together having a better, healthier lifestyle this year. It was Banana Friday today...bananas have a high nutritional value and are 75% water. They are an EXCELLENT healthy snack.
