GO FEST 2023: WEEK 6 - THE UNITED COLOURS OF ORION & GOLDBEATERS

This year we celebrated the UNITY in COMMUNITY and what a community we have at Goldbeaters and Orion. Every child from age of 2 - 11 performed with joy and confidence for their families on the big stage. We experienced a live acoustic set, an EDM set and a Secret DJ! Yellow Man even got to GO Fest!! The finale of GO Fest 2023 was our 2 incredible community evenings, attended by the Mayor of Barnet and our simply amazing families. Thanks to Mr F and the Goldbeaters and Orion staff for their huge effort in making a most wonderful and special week.

Year 5 World War 2 Residential

This week Year 5 visited the Lincolnsfield Children's Centre as part of an enriching experience to their historical learning for the summer term. The children absolutely loved the experience which ranged from having a rationed lunch, to understanding life during a Blitz and exploring a reconstructed 1940s household. The experienced ended with a Victory lunch and the children then headed back to their homes and parents!

GO FEST WEEK 5: YOUNIQUE WEEK

We are all quite unique and special. Our differences should be celebrated. We have celebrated diversity all week and had a lot of fun in the water zone.  A highlight of the year for lots of us. Y6 had camp nights and evening activities, Y5 have been on a World War 2 Residential Trip and Y1 and Y2 have been to the seaside. It’s been truly Younique!

GO FEST WEEK 4: YOUPHORIA WEEK

An extreme sense or feeling of happiness and/or excitement. This week we will experience and practise the 5 steps to euphoria. An Energetix session, time together in our friendship garden, a good diet and an exercised mind. All the children at Goldbeaters this week have made a healthy food dish and had a day of fresh-air learning on the Summerland field!

ONE KIND LEARNING PRODUCTIONS: LIVE IN THE DO MORE DEN - FAMILY SHOW

Thanks to our in-house production team for a wonderful family show on Saturday in our I-Shine Theatre. Over 100 families formed the audience to be entertained and to take part with DMC and his friends. There was amazing participation from parents and children. This amazing team have made Super Juice films throughout the whole of GO Fest to further enrich the learning of our pupil community. THANK YOU!

THE PINK FRINGE

The fringe is a festival within a festival. We pop up shows into the theatre, exhibit art, have comedy, feel proud of our creativity. Orion and Goldbeaters children exhibited art and sculpture in the Said and Done Exhibition, performed dance, drama, music, song and poetry in the I-Shine Theatre on Friday. The fringe continues over the weekend with a family craft morning on Saturday and family show - DMC and Friends in the Do More Den on Sunday. Everyone back for comedy Monday with our very own Mr Allen.

WEEK 3: A SPARK OF ART

We have been immersed in a world of abstract art this week...with visits from Frances at The Magic Lantern and Mark Weighton, our artist in residence. Art is the expression of ideas and emotions through a physical medium, like painting, sculpture, film, dance, writing, photography, or theatre. We have created our own abstract art and have loved the creativity of this week.

WEEK 2: JUST GROOVE

This week's GO Fest learning was all about music in today's world. Most of the music produced today is electronic so we learnt about EDM (electronic dance music) and how instruments and tracks are layered onto each other.  We had a demo from our very own Mr Wilkinson, had a rock band, and a Summerland drink!

Dad's and Kids Breakfast

We celebrated Father's Day in GO Fest style on Thursday 15th June with our dads and kids coming to school at 7.30am for an alfresco breakfast and games. Thanks Dads!

GO FEST 2023 - Get Your Groove On

GO Fest - the new era started with a BANG! It was impossible not to find your spark with our special guests today.

WEEK 1 - FABULOUS FASHION

We've had an incredible week of learning about fashion to start GO Fest 2023. Daily sparks have included learning about elegant and formal wear, streetwear and sustainable fashion. During our Fabulous Fashion Friday session all the child became fashion designers, designing t-shirts, hats, bags and creating recyclable styles. We also came to school wearing our own choice of clothes - some came formal and some came funky. Children have performed at The Shakespeare Festival at The Arts Depot, visited the London Wetlands Centre, represented their school at The London Youth Games, enjoyed strawberries and cream and Reception were entertained with a show in the I-Shine Theatre.

Friday 16th September

We have ended this week in school with I-Shine Friday and thoughts about Queen Elizabeth and also our new King Charles. The whole school from our smallest Nursery children toY6 assembled together for some reflective time and a minute of silence. Proud to be together, proud to be caring, proud of the Royal Family and proud of our school family. There will be no school on Monday 19th September.

Friday 9th September

The Queen’s dedication to public service has been an inspiration to children and adults over the past 70 years. As our country’s longest reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II has been one of the most significant people in history and her loss will be felt by many.  The thoughts of our entire school community are with His Majesty and The Royal Family. May she rest in peace.
