BYW - Big Yellow World

As we begin the summer term, we are excited to be on our journey towards Go Fest. To support us throughout this term, we are welcoming back our Big Yellow World initiative.

Through BYW, we encourage everyone to try their best, use their 'sunny skills,' and support one another with 'sunny aid' to be the best we can be. Our goal is to create a positive, supportive environment where every child can thrive.

To bring this to life, our school and classrooms have been decorated with bright orange and yellow displays, transforming our learning spaces into a vibrant Yellow World.

WORD UP 2026: THE FINAL MESSAGE

Word has finished.Thank you all for loving Word Up and helping Word Up. The Do-it-Dude has said that Word Up should be kept in all of our hearts forever. It is sad when we have to move on but great things are planned for next term. When we come back to school after Easter holidays we are all going to become Super Sunny!

K-Pop

We have been exploring the vibrant culture of K-Pop and were inspired to create our own school version, S-Pop (Super Pop). As part of our Word Up celebrations, we were treated to a fantastic surprise when two K-Pop dancers visited our school. They amazed us with their incredible performances and even taught us some exciting dance moves, leaving everyone inspired, energised, and ready to keep dancing!

"NO TO THE WALL!"

Our ‘No to the Wall’ rally was a powerful and memorable event, centred on standing up for what is right and showing the importance of kindness and unity. We went to the Orion Astro and were joined by Captain K. As we faced the challenge created by Jemini, who had built a wall to divide the citizens and block access to the amazing zones we had created. Together, we showed courage and determination, raising our voices to chant “NO TO THE WALL!” With teamwork and belief in doing the right thing, we stood united and brought the wall down, proving that kindness and togetherness are stronger than division. Kindness will always win!

World Book Day - The Big Surprise

World Book Day was a fantastic celebration of reading, filled with excitement and joy. Not only did we have a wonderful time, but we also had a HUGE surprise—every child was invited to the hall to choose their favourite book, and then told they could keep it forever! It was a truly special moment, making the day even more memorable and inspiring a lifelong love of reading.

Ben Lyttleton

We were thrilled to welcome author and penalty expert Ben Lyttleton to speak with the children about his new book. He shared his knowledge and passion for football, exploring everything from taking shots to saving goals, and even his exciting mission of scouting for new teams. His inspiring visit encouraged us all to aim high, keep improving, and believe in our potential.

AI

The children have been exploring the exciting possibilities of AI, working alongside adults to safely and effectively bring their ideas to life. Using AI tools, they have discovered how technology can support a range of creative and real-world jobs, transforming their designs for drawings, fashion, transport, and homes into vivid creations. Through this experience, the children have developed an understanding of how to use AI responsibly, recognising that these tools are designed for older users and are best used with adult guidance.

Story Time With Our Family

Parents were invited into school to share the joy of reading with their children, creating a special opportunity to learn together. At our school, we are extremely passionate about reading, and this is celebrated through our incredible Word Up festival, where stories, books, and a love of language are brought to life for everyone.

Storyteller Kevin Graal

We were delighted to welcome Kevin Graal into our school. He brought his story to life through his incredible storytelling skills, using props and expressive delivery to fully engage his audience. Both children and staff were completely captivated—we simply couldn’t take our eyes off him!

The Christmas Weeks

December at Goldbeaters has been truly wonderful. We have been bright, helpful and kind – real superheroes.

The Starlight Exhibition was a magnificent celebration of pupils’ creativity and artistic talent. One Kind Productions delivered an entertaining and moving performance for 1,500 children across two full days.

Throughout the festive period, children have enjoyed parties, Christmas lunch, visits to the Fresh Finds store, donating to BYT, and taking part in traditional party games.

We wish all members of our school community a peaceful and blessed holiday season.

Our Golden Lights Art Exhibition showcased a vibrant collection of 2D and 3D artwork inspired by classic fairy tales, including Snow White, Cinderella, Goldilocks, The Gingerbread Man, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Hansel and Gretel, and The Magic Paintbrush. The school hall became a magical walkthrough gallery where families explored the children’s imaginative creations and celebrated their artistic achievements.

Yes I Can Challenge for Children in Need 2025

This week, our children are taking part in the Yes I Can Challenge! There are 25 exciting “I Can” tasks for them to try — with parents joining in by reminding their children of all the wonderful things they can do.
Yes, you can share your toys… Yes, you can make your bed… Yes, you can do your homework!

On Friday, children will bring their decorated tin can, their list of “I Cans,” and a donation for charity. Don’t forget to dress up and join in the fun!

Remembrance at Goldbeaters

Our school came together to observe our traditional minute of silence, lining up outside in a shared moment of reflection. We remembered with gratitude and respect all those who lost their lives in the First World War and in conflicts since.

Inspiring Our Girls’ Football Team

Thirty lucky girls from the Orion and Goldbeaters football teams, along with a few staff members, had the amazing opportunity to watch Arsenal take on Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

It was an incredible experience for our students, inspiring them to see top-level women’s football in action. Events like this highlight the importance of promoting girls in sport and show that with determination, you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

Our girls left feeling motivated, proud, and ready to take their own football skills to the next level!

A Sparkling Night at The Orion!

What a fantastic evening for our school community! Over 1,800 children and families came together to enjoy a spectacular fireworks display. A huge thank you to all our staff for helping to make the night so special. It’s moments like these that show how wonderful our community is when we come together!

🎨 Celebrating Black History Through Art

we proudly celebrate Black History by learning about the incredible achievements, culture, and contributions of Black individuals throughout history. Inspired by these stories, our students have created artwork that reflects themes of strength, unity, and identity.

🌟 A Wish for a Cure – Macmillan Day 26.09.25 🌟

This week’s Do More Task was all about baking for a brilliant cause! Children were asked to bake cupcakes at home — keeping one to enjoy themselves and donating three or four for our charity bake sale.

And what an incredible response we had! WOW, WOW, WOW! Our school community came together and showed their very best for Macmillan Day. The tables were filled with delicious, creative, and colourful cakes, proving that we have many star bakers in our school.

In total, across Goldbeaters and Orion, our pupils baked and sold an amazing 8,000 cupcakes! Every single cake made a difference, helping us raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity that does so much for people affected by cancer.

Together, we really did something amazing.

A Wish for Peace

Celebrating the International Day of Peace is a long and special tradition at Orion and Goldbeaters. Each year, our schools come together to reflect on the importance of kindness, understanding, and unity in our world. This year was another beautiful event, filled with thoughtful messages, creativity, and hope for the future. More than 1,000 pupils and teachers joined together in harmony to form the word PEACE — a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we stand united.
