Admissions

Interested in a school place for your child?

We welcome visits to school for prospective parents. If you would like to come and have a look, please call the school office on 0208 9596033 and arrange an appointment with us.

Starting school is an exciting time for both parents and children. You should be thinking about your child starting reception class in the September following their third birthday.

Nursery Admissions

Admission forms for Nursery can be filled out here at the school. If you would like to apply, please fill out the form below and hand it in to the school office.

We will also need to see your child's birth certificate or passport and proof of your address e.g. utilities bill or bank statement.

For admissions criteria, refer to page 20 of the Admissions Guide in the Primary Admissions section below.

Primary Admissions

Forms for Reception and in-year admissions need to be filled out online using the below link to Barnet Admissions. Your application will be processed by Barnet and they will contact the school should your child's application be successful.

If your child was born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013 you will need to apply for a place in a primary school for the 2017/2018 academic year.

This process is followed:

  • 1 September 2016 online application process opens
  • 15 January 2017 closing date for applications
  • 15 January 2017 applications submitted after this date will be treated as' late' and will be processed from May 2017 onwards
  • 18 April 2017 online results will be available in the evening

This is how the London Borough of Barnet process applications:

  • parents can apply for up to six schools
  • the application is forwarded to Barnet local authority
  • a computerised system is used to exchange information about Barnet residents applying for schools outside the borough, and equally other boroughs can tell us about their residents wishing to apply to Barnet schools
  • if a school is oversubscribed, its admissions criteria is used to decide who should be offered a place (please refer to admissions criteria on page 20 of the Admissions Guide below as Goldbeaters follows this)
  • the scheme makes sure that no child is offered more than one school place
  • you will get the result of your application in the evening of 18 April 2017

Full details of the application process can be found in Barnet's Primary School Admissions Guide 2017.

The guide includes:

  • school admission arrangements
  • how to choose a school
  • the application timetable
  • contact details for Barnet primary schools

In-Year Admissions

This is an application made for your child after the September that they would start in Reception. These admissions must be made via the link below and are made to Barnet not directly to the school.

If a child is leaving The Orion the parent should notify the school office. The school office will then liaise with the new school and inform Barnet's Admissions Team that a place has become available within a certain year group. Barnet will then offer a place according to the waiting list for that year group.

Secondary School Admissions

Year 6 parents should be now making applications for their children to transfer to secondary school. Parents should click on the link below to the correct webpage in order to apply.

Applications must be made by October 31st 2017.

Applications made after this date are considered late.
