Goldies for Gold!

A MASSIVE congratulations to our Boccia team who were crowned London champions at the London Youth Games this week! They had previously won the Barnet and Regional tournaments to progress to Crystal Palace to compete at the highest level. A tense final with Camden was all that stood in the way between them and the trophy, and their calm, skilful play secured them winners of the entire competition. They were presented with their medals by Rachel Yankey, ex England and Arsenal Ladies captain. What a great day out for all involved.

On Thursday 18th April 2015 3 teams played in the Barnet Basketball Tournament! As part of our Shine Academy programme our Year 3 team have been training very hard with Mr Wilkinson and had the opportunity to put their skills into practise against children from Year 6! They scored lots of baskets, won and drew matches and took defeats on the chin! We are very proud of them and can see they will be a great success in the future. Our two Year 6 teams progressed easily to the Semi Finals and it was almost a Goldbeaters' final, with one team narrowly losing 1-0. The final was tough and saw Wessex Gardens grab a late goal to win 3-2, but we came in 3rd beating their other semi final team to go home with 2 medal positions. Well done Goldies!

Their play off for 3rd place was comfortable - winning 4-1. Year 5 Football Tournament Feb 2015

On Wednesday 25th February our Year 5 footballing stars travelled to Powerleague to compete in the borough competition with our Orion friends from the Gold Star Federation. In some convincing performances they won 2 matches, drew one and lost one. Girls Football tournament January 2015

A fine performance from our girls in high winds and rain this Wednesday. Not losing a single game in the group stages they then had to play off to qualify for the semi-finals. In the semi finals some excellent play saw us 1-0 up but an unlucky goal 30 seconds from the end saw the match go to penalties which, unfortunately, didn't go our way. A play off for 3rd place was a comfortable win for the girls, ensuring they brought home bronze medals. They have secured a place in the Borough Finals on 11th February. Wish them luck!

Cross Country October 2014

On Wednesday 24th September 2014 13 children represented Goldbeaters at the Cross Country meet at Allianz Park. They were a fantastic example of how to use your power - pushing themselves right to the end. GO Power. Well done to all our children, especially those who finished in the top 15 of their race out of 75 runners. We finished a respectable 18th out of 40 schools, and will be looking to move higher up the rankings at the February meet through practise.

Spectacular Spurs December 2014

On Friday 5th December our year 3 football team went to the training ground of Totenham Hotspur to take part in a football festival. The grounds were astonishing. We were taken to our own dressing room with Glen Hoddle on the wall. there were lots of premiership footballers around - we saw Vertongen getting into his car and Townsend as he was getting his lunch! They had the biggest Christmas tree we have ever seen! There were interviews taking place in the press room too. We played 7 matches, winning all but one and scoring a wealth of goals! Year 6 had better watch out!
