Welcome to Year 5!
Healthy Snack: All children must bring in a healthy snack, which is eaten mid-morning. This can also be a piece of fruit, a cereal bar, fruit juice or vegetables (carrots, cucumber etc). Please do not send your child in with chocolates, crisps or biscuits. We also have Breakfast and Snack Club, which opens at 8:30am in the Small Hall.
PE Kit: Children are to come to school dressed in P.E. kit for our day at the Gold Star Centre which is a Tuesday. No jewellery except small studs and hair to be tied back (girls).
Swimming Kit: This will be needed every Thursday until the end of the Autumn term. We will inform you when there is no swimming.
Homework: Homework for Literacy and Maths will be given out on a Thursday, for the children to bring back to school the following Tuesday. The children will be given new spellings every Monday and they will be tested on Friday. Your child needs to bring their spelling practise sheet back on Friday. Please practise their words with them EVERYDAY.
Mathletics: New tasks are given every week on Tuesday. They must be completed by 8:30pm the following Monday night. Once completed students have access to games on Mathletics to practise their Maths.
Book bags / Reading Books: Please ensure that book bags are brought in everyday. Guided Reading is every Thursday, however their guided reading activity book and reading book must be returned on Tuesday. REMEMBER CHAMPION READERS AND CHAMPION NUMBER EVERY MONDAY!
Library Books: Both Year 5 classes have access to the Rockin' Readers and class libraries.

Maths – Adding up small amounts of money, quick mental maths questions (+ - x ÷), Place value practise, telling the time, learning and practising their timetables and division. Online maths games (Mathletics).
Literacy – Reading to and with your child, writing short stories together and checking for punctuation and grammar errors, practising spellings and handwriting. Online literacy games.
